Blue Classic Kitchen in Kilsby
A cooking-focused classic kitchen designed around a generous island and a farmhouse-style range cooker wall.
Key features
A light blue classic kitchen built around cooking and gathering.
This blue classic kitchen in Kilsby was designed for a modern detached home, with the island at the centre of the brief. The clients wanted a kitchen that met their cooking dreams and served as the social heart of the home.
Designed by Sharon and installed by Daniel, the kitchen uses Burbidge Chartwell cabinetry in Prussian Blue, 30mm Carrara Marble quartz worksurfaces, a 40mm PrimeOak breakfast bar and a Smeg range cooker. The oak seating, Moroccan tiles and farmhouse-style mantel bring warmth and character to a striking blue kitchen.

Our approach
-
A kitchen centred on the island.
The clients wanted the kitchen to become the heart of the house. Cooking mattered, but so did the way people would gather in the room.
The island had to support prep, storage and seating for six, while maintaining the comfort and flow of the room. The range cooker wall also needed a proper focal point, with enough character to balance the strong blue cabinetry.
-
Giving the room a strong centre.
The island shapes the structure of the kitchen. It creates a generous working area, brings people into the room and gives the clients a natural place to sit.
The oak breakfast bar softens how the island feels. The timber creates a warmer seating area that feels more like furniture than worksurface.
Around the range cooker, the RFK-built mantel gives the cooking area presence and purpose. The shelf and Moroccan tiles give this part of the kitchen a personal quality that goes beyond the specification.
-
Prussian blue, oak and patterned tile.
Burbidge Chartwell furniture in Prussian Blue gives the kitchen a strong classic base. The colour is bold, and the faux in-frame shaker detail and warm metal accents bring necessary texture.
Carrara Marble quartz was used for the main worksurfaces, lifting the colour palette and providing a practical work surface. The 40mm PrimeOak breakfast bar brings warmth to the seating end of the island, with a lovely mitred corner.
The Smeg range cooker anchors the main cooking wall. Moroccan tiles behind the range add pattern and interest, and the farmhouse-style mantel frames the whole space.
-
The large island
The island is the centre of the kitchen. It gives the room prep space, storage and a natural hub for people to gather.
Oak breakfast bar seating
The PrimeOak breakfast bar seats six and brings warmth to the island, giving the kitchen a more settled, sociable character.
Farmhouse-style mantel
The RFK-built mantel frames the range cooker and gives the cooking wall a proper focal point. The bespoke shelf adds useful display and detail.
Moroccan tiles
The Moroccan tiles bring colour, pattern and personality to the cooking area. They give the blue cabinetry an energetic counterpoint in a contained space.
Storage for cooking and entertaining
The design includes wine storage in the island alongside storage solutions throughout. The kitchen supports serious cooking and a room meant for socialising.
The result
A classic kitchen with a clear centre.
The finished kitchen feels confident and warm. The island gives the room its centre and its social side, and the range cooker wall has the character to match it.
The blue cabinetry, patterned tiles and timber details each earn their place in the room. It is a classic kitchen shaped around how the clients want to use it.
