Your kitchen journey
How it works
A clear process, from first conversation to finished kitchen, with the same designer involved throughout.
You’re in good hands
Designed thoughtfully, delivered personally
Choosing a new kitchen is a big decision, and most clients want the same thing from the process: clear advice and confidence that the job is in good hands.
At RFK, you work with one designer from your first visit through to installation. They shape the design, help develop the specification and stay closely involved on site, so the kitchen you see fitted is the one you agreed at the start.
Your Journey
Our process
Sustainability depends on what’s chosen for each project and how those decisions are made. Poor planning creates waste; rushed specifications lead to changes after ordering. We help clients compare options clearly and make decisions they’re confident in before anything is ordered.
-
Everything starts with a design consultation at one of our showrooms in Rugby, Warwick or Market Harborough.
This is where your designer gets a feel for the project: the style you're drawn to and how you want the kitchen to work. It's also a chance to look at materials, cabinetry, appliances and finishes in person, and start narrowing down the direction.
Some clients arrive with a clear brief. Others just know their current kitchen isn't working for them, and that's a good place to start too.
-
Once we have a clear sense of the brief, your designer visits your home to measure the space and see how the room is currently used.
This is about more than dimensions. It helps identify practical opportunities and constraints, from layout and appliance positions to how the kitchen connects with the rest of the home.
Budget is also discussed at this stage, so the design develops around what's realistic for the project.
-
Back in the studio, your designer develops the layout around workflow and how the space will be used day to day.
Storage solutions, circulation, appliance placement and everyday usability are resolved first, before the finer material and finish decisions are made.
The aim is always a kitchen that works for your home and looks the part too.
-
Once the design is ready, you'll come back to the showroom to go through it in detail.
Layout, cabinetry, finishes, appliances, worksurfaces and door furniture are discussed together, along with any changes needed to get everything right.
There's no rush at this stage. It's about refining the design until it feels right for you.
-
For projects that go beyond kitchen supply and fitting, such as extensions or wider renovations, your designer coordinates the trades involved too.
That can include plumbing, electrics, plastering, flooring and decorating. We bring the right people in at the right time, with the design and scope explained clearly so costs and logistics can be planned in.
If your project involves an extension, early input matters. Issues like steels, soil pipes and service routes are easier to resolve before the room is built around them.
-
Once the design and specification are agreed, we place the order and the project moves into the lead-in period.
Your designer stays in touch throughout, so you always know where things stand. If the kitchen is part of a larger renovation or new build, we can work the timing around that too.
As the installation date approaches, we confirm the practical details so everyone's ready.
-
When installation begins, your designer stays closely involved.
They're on hand at key stages, including delivery and worksurface templating, and stay in regular contact with the fitters and wider trades. That keeps the design on track and means any issues are dealt with quickly.
This is the stage many clients remember most. It's where a well-managed installation really shows.
-
Once everything's finished, we check the final details, provide care information and deal with anything outstanding.
Your designer stays reachable after that too, so you always know who to call if a question comes up.
That continuity matters, especially with a project of this scale. Many of the kitchens we fitted a decade or more ago are still in daily use, and we're still the number our clients call.
