Light Grey Classic Kitchen in Cubbington
A clean light grey classic kitchen designed around an AGA, a large island and generous natural light.
Key features
A classic kitchen shaped around light and cooking.
This light grey classic kitchen in Cubbington was designed as a calm, traditional space with the AGA at its centre. The room has strong architectural qualities, including a large roof lantern, garden doors and a connection through to a more formal dining area.
The design uses pale classic shaker cabinetry, a large beadboard-panelled island, marble-effect stone surfaces, a white AGA and a separate oven built into the island. The result is a light, practical kitchen with a quiet character that repays a closer look.

Our approach
-
A kitchen for serious cooking and a considered home.
The brief called for a classic kitchen that felt right for the house and supported the way the clients cook and live. The AGA was a key part of that. It needed to feel central to the room, with the layout built around it.
The kitchen also needed to work alongside a formal dining space and a garden connection. That meant a calm palette, a well-planned island and a design that gave the room a sense of presence without relying on the scale of the cabinetry.
-
Letting the key features do their job.
The AGA gives the kitchen its anchor. The surrounding cabinetry, classic cornice detail and pale palette all support that focal point. The kitchen is structured around the AGA and how it will be used.
The island adds the second major element. Its beadboard panelling gives it texture and a more furniture-like feel, while the stone surface brings movement and depth into an otherwise quiet scheme.
The roof lantern is also important. It floods the room with natural light, which keeps the pale cabinetry and larger island feeling bright and open. Black industrial-style pendants over the island add contrast and give the room a more contemporary edge.
-
Pale cabinetry, stone surfaces and stronger details.
The pale shaker cabinetry gives the kitchen its classic base. It works with the AGA, the tall cabinetry and the connection to the dining room, while keeping the overall room light.
The island surface introduces movement, giving the centre of the kitchen more visual weight. Brushed chrome door furniture keeps the detail crisp, and the large-format floor tiles give the room a practical, understated finish.
The separate oven built into the island supports the AGA and gives the clients more flexibility for everyday cooking, with the two appliances working from different points in the room.

The AGA
The AGA is the natural centrepiece of the kitchen. It gives the cooking area presence and helps set the classic tone of the room.
The large island
The island gives the kitchen its working centre. The beadboard panelling adds texture and gives it the feel of a freestanding piece within the fitted layout.
The roof lantern
The roof lantern brings in a large amount of natural light. In a pale kitchen with a large island, that light shapes how the whole room feels through the day.
The separate island oven
The extra oven adds useful cooking capacity alongside the AGA. Having both appliances to hand gives the kitchen flexibility for how the clients cook day to day.
The dining room connection
The kitchen opens towards a more formal dining area. The classic cabinetry and pale palette carry naturally across the threshold, so the two spaces feel part of the same home.
The result
A light grey classic kitchen with purpose.
The finished kitchen is calm and light, with the AGA, island and roof lantern each doing exactly what the room needs them to do. The pale cabinetry and stronger island surface keep the design balanced, and the personal choices throughout give it a character that fits the house.
