A timeless classic kitchen designed for an extended family room, with informal seating and clear storage zones.
Key features
A Light Grey classic kitchen for family living.
This light grey classic kitchen in Dunchurch was designed for an extended family room. The brief was to create a timeless kitchen that felt personal, practical and easy to live in.
The kitchen uses Finsbury Putty cabinetry, Carrara White quartz worksurfaces and NEFF appliances. A large breakfast bar island, integrated American fridge, larder storage and feature lighting shape the room into clear, usable zones.

Our approach
-
A timeless kitchen for a busy family room.
The clients wanted a classic kitchen that would feel right in an extended family space. It needed to be calm and easy to live in, as well as practical for everyday use.
Informal seating was important, along with good storage and clear zones for cooking, refrigeration and day-to-day family life. The design also needed to accommodate the American fridge without letting it dominate the room.
-
Giving the room useful zones.
The breakfast bar island gives the kitchen a natural centre. It creates somewhere informal to sit and provides structure to the larger family room.
The refrigeration and larder storage were planned as clear zones, so the main cooking and prep areas stay easy to use. In a family kitchen, that kind of organisation is as important as anything visible.
The separate utility supports the main kitchen by keeping laundry and extra storage away from the living space, so the kitchen remains focused and calm.
-
Putty cabinetry and Carrara White quartz.
Finsbury Putty cabinetry gives the kitchen a soft classic base. The tone is warm without being heavy, keeping the room light and settled.
Carrara White quartz was chosen for the worksurfaces, giving the kitchen a practical surface with a clean, timeless feel. NEFF appliances complete the specification and support regular family use.
Feature lighting adds another layer to the room, giving the classic cabinetry more depth in the evening and at different points through the day.
-
Integrated American fridge
The American fridge was worked into the design so it feels intentional. Large appliances need careful planning, especially in a classic kitchen where balance matters.
Larder storage
The larder storage creates a practical zone for everyday items. It keeps useful things close without cluttering the main surfaces.
Separate utility
The utility gives the household extra working storage away from the main kitchen. It supports the way the home is used without pulling the kitchen out of balance.
Feature lighting
The lighting adds warmth and detail to the finished room, giving the classic cabinetry the depth it deserves.
The result
A classic kitchen that feels easy to live in.
The finished kitchen gives the extended family room a calm, practical centre. The peninsular, refrigeration and larder storage each have their place, and the soft putty cabinetry and quartz surfaces keep the overall look settled.
It’s a classic kitchen designed around the way the room is used, with enough storage, seating and detail to make the space feel complete.
“RFK gave me very personal help and a professional job with no hassle. The kitchen, with their help, is everything I wanted.”

Planning a classic kitchen for a family room?
An extended kitchen needs more than a good-looking cabinet choice. How the room is zoned, where the seating sits and how storage is planned all affect how easily the space works day to day.
