Green & Neutral Handleless Shaker Kitchen in Cawston
A calm two-tone shaker kitchen designed around everyday family life.
Key features
A green and neutral handleless kitchen with a liveable feel.
This green and neutral handleless shaker kitchen in Cawston was designed as a practical family kitchen with a calm, classic feel. The aim was a kitchen that looked considered and met every day needs and comforts as part of the wider living space.
The kitchen uses Burbidge Fenton cabinetry in Putty and Baltic Green, with 30mm Granite Avignon worksurfaces and NEFF appliances. The muted green island gives the room its centre, while the tall appliance run, integrated TV and wine fridge support how the kitchen is used day to day.

Our approach
-
A family kitchen with a calm, practical feel.
The clients wanted a kitchen that would suit everyday life. It needed to feel warm and practical, with enough storage and appliance space to keep the room functional.
The kitchen also had to sit comfortably with the adjoining living area. That meant that, rather than impose itself on the room, the design needed to flow with the wider vision.
-
Using colour to give the room structure.
The two-tone palette gives the kitchen a clear shape. Putty keeps the main cabinetry calm and neutral, while Baltic Green gives the island more presence without making the room feel heavy.
The island gives the kitchen a natural centre, holds the induction hob and carries the scheme’s main colour contrast. The tongue-and-groove detailing on the island sides adds classic character without adding visual weight.
The full-height appliance tower keeps cooking and refrigeration in one clear zone. The integrated TV and wine fridge reflect how the room is actually used, a keystone of the design.
-
Putty, Baltic Green and patterned granite.
The Burbidge Fenton cabinetry gives the kitchen its classic shaker feel. Putty is soft and neutral, while Baltic Green adds a muted, earthy contrast at the island.
The 30mm Granite Avignon worksurfaces bring movement into the room, especially across the island. The pattern gives the island more character and works well against the restrained cabinetry colours.
NEFF appliances support the practical side of the kitchen, while the appliance tower, wine fridge and integrated TV create a room that works as part of family life.
-
The two-tone palette
Putty and Baltic Green give the kitchen contrast with a calm, settled feel. While the rest of the room stays muted, the green is focused at the island, so the colour has real impact.
The feature island
The island gives the kitchen its centre. The induction hob, granite worksurface and tongue-and-groove panelling make it the most considered part of the room.
Full-height appliance storage
The tall appliance run keeps ovens and refrigeration together. That frees up the rest of the kitchen and keeps the main working areas clear.
Integrated TV
The TV is a practical detail that reflects how the kitchen is lived in. It sits in the room as a considered part of the design rather than an afterthought.
Wine Rack
The wine rack is an easy detail that most families find useful. It keeps the social side of the kitchen within reach of the main working area.
The result
A calm shaker kitchen for everyday living.
The finished kitchen has the calm, classic quality the clients wanted. The two-tone palette gives the room character, and the island, appliance tower, wine fridge and integrated TV mean it works well for daily family use. It’s a kitchen that looks right and lives well.
