This white and oak modern kitchen in Hillside was designed for a compact space where every decision needed to earn its place. The brief was to create a calm, practical kitchen with strong storage, a place to sit and enough warmth to make the room feel welcoming.
The kitchen uses white matte slab cabinetry, white sparkle quartz worksurfaces and warm oak feature panels. A narrow vertical storage tower, a fixed oak breakfast bar and a deliberate shadow line above the cabinetry all help the finished room feel considered.

A compact kitchen with more to do.
The clients needed a kitchen that made better use of a compact footprint. Storage was a key part of the brief, but the room still needed to feel open and comfortable day to day.
They also wanted somewhere to sit, but had no room for a separate table. That meant the dining space had to be worked into the design while keeping floor space for the kitchen.

Making every detail work harder.
In a smaller kitchen, the details matter quickly. Too much cabinetry can make the room feel closed in, and too little storage leaves the worksurfaces under pressure.
The narrow vertical storage tower solves a very practical problem. It creates a full-height column for small items, packets, spices and everyday kitchen clutter, keeping them easy to reach and out of sight.
The fixed oak breakfast bar adds another useful layer. It creates a dining spot at counter height, framed by the teal feature wall, while keeping the working kitchen clear.

White slab doors, oak detail and sparkle quartz.
The white matte slab doors give the kitchen a simple, modern base. The finish keeps the room calm and lets the storage, layout and material details do the work.
Oak feature panels bring warmth into the scheme. They frame parts of the cabinetry and help break up the white, connecting the kitchen to the oak-effect floor.
White sparkle quartz was chosen for the worksurfaces and matching splashback panel. It keeps the room light while adding a small amount of texture and movement. The under-cabinet lighting helps the surface catch the light while keeping the scheme calm.

The vertical storage tower
The narrow storage tower is one of the most useful details in the kitchen. It gives small items a proper place, so packets, spices and everyday ingredients stay off the worksurfaces.
The oak breakfast bar
The fixed oak shelf creates a place to sit, so the compact kitchen gains a relaxed, sociable spot that still leaves the room feeling open.
Oak feature panels
The oak panels give the white cabinetry more depth. They add warmth and give the kitchen a considered, built-in feel.
The ceiling shadow line
The deliberate gap above the cabinetry keeps the tall units feeling light. It gives the design a cleaner finish and keeps the proportions open.
Sparkle quartz surfaces
The white sparkle quartz brings brightness and a little personality to the kitchen. Used as both worksurface and splashback, it gives the room a more continuous finish.
The result
A compact kitchen that feels calm and considered.
The finished kitchen makes careful use of the available space. The storage tower, tall cabinetry and integrated appliances give the room the practicality it needs, while the oak detail and breakfast bar keep it warm.
It is a modern kitchen shaped around real constraints. The room feels resolved, with each detail doing a specific job.
We had such a brilliant experience with Sharon and the team at RFK Rugby. We love our new kitchen, and it was perfectly designed to meet our needs. Steve did a wonderful job of fitting it, and nothing was too much trouble. We’re so happy with the finished result.
